About the Director

Tina T. Hsu was born in Taipei, Taiwan. She grew up reading comics and watching animation and was a child who loved drawing and making things. She moved to the US at age 14 and attended high school in Northern California, and continued to UCLA to study design/media arts.

In her senior year at the undergrad program in UCLA, she had the chance to take an introduction class to traditional 2D Animation with the UCLA Animation Workshop, which she enjoyed immensely. The experience planted the seed that led to her further study in 2D animation.

In 2009, Tina enrolled in the 2D Character Animation MFA
program at the Academy of Art University under Sherrie H. Sinclair. And this is where “LADY and the frog” was born.

Tina currently works as a 2D/Stop motion animator/fabricator for various studios in the Portland, Oregon area while developing her next personal projects on the side.
